Veena Narayan is a freelance writer who quit her job to pursue her long cherished dream of becoming a writer. Having spent her childhood in different parts of India she believes in its essential unity and is in perpetual awe of its mind boggling diversity. She has attended the first ever overseas creative writing workshop conducted by the University of East Anglia in Calcutta during March-April, 2013 where the novelists Amit Chaudhuri and Romesh Gunesekera were the resource persons.
When not writing or reading she can be found making industrious though unsuccessful attempts at tailoring or travelling in crowded city buses observing people and eavesdropping on conversations without a shred of shame. She is currently working on her novel about a boy who attempts suicide because he wants desperately to live and is also translating a mythological novel from Malayalam into English.
